A-athleticism: One of our primary means to improve this area is the weight room. We have a top-notch facility with a second to none strength coach in Kurt Polhmann. Take full advantage of it! It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. My all time favorite outside of the weight room is the jump rope. Give me a dedicated player with a jump rope and 10-20 minutes a day and eventually you will find a playmaker on the court.
S-skills: Webster defines skill as dexterity or coordination especially in the execution of learned physical tasks. Your skill set in basketball can always get better. Footwork. Ballhandling. Shooting. All of these and more require your full attention. Learn to be comfortable training at an uncomfortable pace. Grind now and shine later!
K-knowledge: Become a student of the game and life. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Friends who don't want to be mediocre, but great! Follow the wise on social media. Communicate with your coaches. I mean really talk to them. Volunteer to mentor. I know for a fact I always learn the most when I am in a position to teach and give back. Likewise, our players who stick around and coach hard all afternoon at our elementary camps greatly improve their basketball IQ's.
A.S.K. and get better. Our acrostic to success.
